Gomponent

- for people who like soldering, not searching...

Requirements:

Required are gtk2 and MySQL. Gomponent has been tested on various linux distributions but generally should compile on any platform that supports gtk. (Comments on that would be appreciated.) Additionally you need the mysql-development package of your distribution. For the whole fun, it's nice to have (write) access to a configured mysql-server.

Description:

gomponent provides a nice frontend for mySQL to ease the management of electronic-components. You will be able to catalouge transistors and resistors for now... I plan to add many more items like capacitors, trimmers, diodes, ICs and others... Depending on my needs (or public demand), sooner or later there will be future additions.

GUI:

The GUI was meant to keep simple and intuitive. Almost everything is equipped with a tooltip help, so it's nearly self-explainatory. In addition of fast and clean usage, beauty was held in mind. Transistor packages are shown as nice graphics. So is the color-value of a resistor.

Stability:

With version 0.1-beta it's the very first release and it works for me now. I found a lot of bugs and fixed them. But although I refuse to believe it, i know there still are some :) If you encounter any bug, please report it (s. Contact) by exactly explaining how to reproduce the malfunction. (run with --verbose and attach output)

Documentation:

Besides of the README and INSTALL instructions in the file, there are online documentation-resources available.

Changelog:

  • 0.1beta-r2 - first release did not compile with error in "intl" directory. should now compile nicely
  • 0.1beta - initial release.

Old Project

The precursor of gomponent was "lOhmer" ... A simple resistor color code converter.
